The Aerial Tramway is the world's largest rotating tramcar systems. It carries visitors from an elevation of over
2000 feet to a Mountain Station located at the 8,516 foot level of Mt. San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness. The tram is open all year.
Experience transportation by tram to the top of the mountain. At the top, there are outdoor activities and areas to
camp, hike, cross-country ski, picnic, and more. Or just to relax and enjoy the scenery and outdoors!
Dine, shop and enjoy the amazing views at the top of the mountain. The tramway was built in 1963 as a way of
getting to Mt. San Jacinto State Park from the floor of the Coachella Valley. The ride up North America's sheerest mountain face passes through several different temperate zones on its way to the Mountain Station at
over 8500 feet above mean sea level. Some say it is like a motor trip from Mexico to Canada in terms of the geologic and climatic changes!
It is not necessary to specify a time of day on your request because you can plan your day as you choose! Trams
depart every 30 minutes from 10:00 am Monday through Friday and 8:00 am Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. The last car up the mountain is at 8:00 pm and last car down is at 9:45 pm. Memorial Day to Labor Day last car
up is at 9:00 pm and last car down is at 10:30 pm.
